At the age of 43 I was enticed into midwifery by a highschool friend (Bonnie Kitchen) who had trained in England before moving back to the states. I began training with Bonnie before enrolling in the Association of Texas Midwifery training program, allowing me a glimpse into the world of safe, natural, peaceful home births. I was hooked!! I had to have more!
My apprenticeship was at the hands of many seasoned midwives afording me valuable knowledge and experience from different methods of practice. I am NARM certified making me a Texas Licensed Midwife. After graduating from the ATM course and passing the NARM exam in 2000, I began my private practice. I have a small practice by choice, so that I may devote time to my three children and give my clients the attention and TLC they deserve.
I relish any opportunity to learn from others who have gone before me. Consequently, I attend one national midwifery conference, state-wide conferences, and all local workshops for continuing education. It is my belief there is always room to grow. |
